North Carolina’s HB2 restroom legislation of 2016 and the idiotic boycott of Target stores that same year showed just how poorly biological sex and physiological gender are understood. Biological sex does influence physiological gender which in turn does influence sexuality, but no one of these is determinative of the others. While genetics and anatomy fairly concretely determine biological sex, this is not true of gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.
